kids say the funniest things

Joe said the funniest thing to me while I was giving Anthony a bath...

Joe: Mommy, Anthony is going to pee!
Me: How do you know that?
Joe: Because his area is going straight!
Me: Huh? (I was really trying not to laugh)
Joe: Yeah cuz when I need to go it goes straight then when I'm done it goes back to normal then it wiggles! Me: Oh really I didn't know that
Joe: That's cuz you don't have one like me & my brothers!

Chicken Noodle Soup

I was craving soup from Sweet Tomatoes but wanted to make it so I decided to check out one of my favorite websites and found this recipe from Rachel Ray-Quick Chick & Noodle soup. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/rachael-ray/quick-chick-and-noodle-soup-recipe/index.html it was fairly easy to make.  However since I'm breast feeding some of the ingredients didn't work too well with my 3 month old, he had a belly ache & was fussy all night, but none the less the soup was delicious! thanks Rachel!

Peanut Butter & Jelly cupcakes

Being a single mom requires help from WIC, and since my kids rarely eats pbj sandwiches, I decided to make use of the jars of peanut butter.  I went to the skippy website & found some great recipes.  Since my kids love to eat cupcakes I made this.  It was really easy too.  www.peanutbutter.com

finding his fist

nothing is funnier than a baby trying to find their fists for the first time.  it's like he's about to punch someone in the face.  it's cute.  he'll have his fist in the air for a good minute then trying to aim it in his mouth is hilarious.  then when i try to help him he gets fussy.

for just 3 minutes of my life today...

i wanted to sit in the closet & just hide! kids are so unpredictable.  my 7 yr old & 13 yr old decided they wanted to be nice to each other for a little while.  so for about 2 hrs they were getting along they went to work out at the basketball courts, came back & laughed with each other then starting to sing "lucky" by jason mraz because they want to make a video on youtube then all of a sudden out of no where they're biting each others head off (hypothetically speaking) joe kicks daeja then daeja slaps him back omg then the little one started crying and the teen-ager storms upstairs & slams the door whoa!?!? in that whole 1 minute of heated argument i couldn't even get my word in to discipline them! while lil anthony sat on my lap as i blogged! luckily the older one josh wasn't there or else he would have sided with one of them & cause a big commotion! the joys of being a mommy!

steak, fettucini & steamed carrots & fruit salad for dessert

for dinner tonight i made london broiled steak with penne pasta fettucini alfredo & steamed carrots sauteed with garlic butter.  i marinated the steak overnight with dry rub, fried it for 5 minutes on each side. then for the pasta i boiled the penne for roughly 15 minutes, cooked the sauce with half/half, minced onions & garlic, & parmesan cheese.

for dessert i made fruit salad filipino style... first i drained all the canned fruits...kaong, macapuno balls, pineapple, peaches, tropical fruit, & cherry fruits with condensed milk & nestles cream.

Beef & Cheese Pocket Sandwich

I was bored one day so I wanted to see what I had in my freezer & ran into the frozen ready made dough bread.  I had already defrosted some ground beef so I was basically going to make a meatloaf then next thing I knew I was stuffing the meat with cheese in the bread and sealing it with egg yolks.  I baked it for about 1hr  During the baking I brushed butter over the bread.  When finished I drizzled shredded cheese over the loaf.  It was actually really good!

Red Velvet Cake from Minia's Bakery

I was looking for bakeries in my area besides goldilocks, safeway, lucky's, costco, & raleys so I decided to use the ever friendly yelp website & read all the great reviews for Minia's Bakery.  So I called & spoke to Jennifer & she was the sweetest person ever!  I went to the store with no problems of locating the bakery that which was the biggest complaint was the location.  Anyways, Jennifer was so nice.  She took my order & we chit chatted for a while before I left about kids & baking.  Pricing is great for the best quality of the food.  Very reasonable.  About the cake...it is soooo fluffy! Not dry or rich.  Very light! The frosting was good too...it wasn't too sweet like most cakes.  It didn't give you the left over frosting at the roof of your mouth.  It practically melted in my mouth.  As far as decoration...I left it up to her because I wasn't sure if anything would fit so at that point I wasn't going to be picky. She managed to fix the decoration on a 1/4 sheet cake.  It was was soooo good!  I would definitely go back to order more cakes from Minia's & definitely recommend this place to my friends & family!

On a hot, sweaty day you need to pass by Ki Linda's in Union City, Ca it's a hole in the wall little place but the food there is good! Great price for the food! Try her Halo Halo because WOW it's delicious!!!! It has kaong, langka, nata de coco, ube, jello, different kinds of beans, rice cereal & all combined with crushed ice, topped with vanilla ice cream with leche flan drizzling down the sides! Oh my!!!

Tiramisu cake by Dianda's Bakery SF

This was my birthday cake from Dianda's one of the best bakeries in SF I love this place because so far they make the best Tiramisu cake ever! What I love about this cake is that it is so light.  It may look rich but the taste is so wonderful! The texture of the cake was very moist.  The frosting was fluffy with a smooth touch to it.  The best part is I can taste bits of the Rum! Go to Dianda's in San Francisco! Also try St. Honore, Tres Leche Cake & their Almond torte!

Spamushi by Kit Herrera

This was made by my Mom for my baby shower.  She concocted this sushi roll after she perfected the California Rolls.  In this 10 in roll is spam, scrambled egg, japanese sticky rice seasoned with sweet vinegar.  This lovely appetizer is gone in seconds.
